Japanese mask, Hiotoko

iopalai - japanese mask Japanese Mask I started yesterday for a new customer. As a starting point, I decided to study a sketch from Horicho, mixing it with my own style. Original plays from China which became its own thing in Japan. Here Iopalai san as I call him (Iopalai meaning drunk). Japanese call him hiotoko, he performs crazy dance at festivals. Still alive today! Part of a series of 5 masks which all represents different characters. Drawing him, I became in a really good mood :) He's so mad and so funny at the same time :)
